This Yoga workshop is the second of part of a series that I will be running over the next few months, to give students the opportunity to delve a little deeper into the practice of yoga.
We will be exploring Bandhas, what they are and how to incorporate them into your practice.
You will also be introduced to Pranayama (Prana – Life Force, Yama – to control) which are various breathing techniques used when practising yoga.
This workshop will also include a 1 hour Yin Yoga session which stretches connective tissue around the joints (mainly the knees, pelvis, sacrum, and spine).
A passive practice, Yin Yoga involves variations of seated and supine poses typically held for 3 to 5 minutes, accessing deeper layers of fascia.
Yin yoga also offers you the opportunity to stay focused on one point – the breath, and not be tempted to drift into a dull sleepy zone.
By keeping your focus on one point, you begin to build prana (life force) rather than deplete it. This can at times be the most challenging part of practising slower styles of yoga and any styles of yoga in fact, and is the difference between a stretch class and a mindful practice!
